Alpine Electronics and Visual Matter

Alpine Electronics was in need of a Online University and product training for retailers selling their product. Think training for Best Buy employees as well as local electronics and car audio specialty shops. Alpine, knowing that Visual Matter, a Marketing Firm in San Jose had successfully created the training for Toyota of North America and it’s introduction of a new automobile to a nationwide sales force, were eager to partner with Visual Matter to create their own and unique online university.

Alpine Electronics had an agency of record, which means that Visual Matter was charged with using the existing marketing strategy and to incorporate that strategy into the training program. Visual Matter plays well with other agency’s and looked forward to working with the agency of record, whose campaign allowed for our creative team to have fun with placement of our onscreen video spokesperson and use of the static design. The conceptualization was well received and Alpine brought value to the process by being engaging, excited and believing in our process and abilities. Following the conceptualization the storyboard process was completed in record time. The script for the talent was completed quickly too. Even though Visual Matter is based out of San Jose, we have a pre-created relationship with a sound stage in the same city as Alpine. So we brought our creative team, met the talent and the video production crew to the sound stage, which was set to chroma key green for Hollywood special effects. The entire story board was shot with a half days shoot, complete with props and special sequences defined and created on the fly.

Needless to say, with this type of online training the content and the messaging is only half the process, collecting and reporting the users scores, progress to several department heads while allowing for a funnel approach for access to review status and participation of users.

Alpine had complete success with the venture. So much so that Visual Matter has created and maintained the Alpine online university for several years.
